It is time to prune your relationships.

Pay attention to who you have in your life as they are way more important than you think.

Most of us tend to stagnate in our lives as far as relationships go. We keep the same friends, etc., even though our values change. But as our values change, we need new relationships to reinforce them. Pruning makes room for new growth.

Who do you want to bring into your life and who has to go in order to make room for them?

This phrase will save you from pushy people.

Say “I’ll get back to you” when you get an unreasonable request from someone.

Many of us have a hard time saying no to unreasonable requests. We give up control and get pushed into something we don’t want to do. If you can’t say “no”, you can delay them by putting them off. Chances are this will buy you the time to avoid getting involved. Or at least come up with a reason to really say no.

Long term success is a trifecta of ability, motivation and attitude.

Missing any one of them leaves you an also ran.

Ability is what your capable of doing every day. Motivation determines what you actually do every day. And attitude determines how well you actually do it. If you are falling short on one of your goals, I bet you will find that the issue is tied to one or more of these factors.

Keep them to yourself.

Never tell anyone about your goals until you are almost there.

If you tell people about your goals the naysayers will rush in and try to kill your ideas. They may mean well, but they will flood you with reasons why your plans will not work. You will come up with enough reasons why it won’t work on your own. You do not need help from others.

Unless you are sure someone can help you, never discuss your goals with others.

Now is the time to be the person you could have been.

The number one regret people have is that they did not become the person they could have been.

Very very few people become all they could have been. Life gets in the way and takes us away from doing so. It is a constant battle and few people put up much of a fight. The good news is that you can pick up the fight again at any time. If you know your goals you can plug your current situation into the equation and come up with a new game plan.

Life is not a life sentence.

Use the Goldilocks rule to stay motivated.

Goals should not be too hard, nor too easy, but just right.

If you want to stay motivated over the long term you must have goals that fall into the sweet spot of being just right. If a goal is too easy, it is not challenging and you will lose interest. If a goal is too hard, you will give up early on. But on the other hand a goal that is a bit of a stretch will keep you interested over the long term.

Time to get started on your goals, you can deal with the bears later.

Here is where practice truly makes perfect.

Practicing gratitude.

The more you practice gratitude, the more you see how much there is to be grateful for, and your life becomes an ongoing celebration of joy and happiness. If this is new to you, begin by listing seven things you are grateful for. Don’t insist they be big things, small things work just as well. Do this every day and watch how you feel after you do your list. Honestly the payoff is huge.

The main event is not the finish.

The main event is the step by step to the finish.

It is just too long to wait for the finish if you are looking for satisfaction. You need to find a way to enjoy the process because that is where you will spend most of your time. Of course it is easy to get caught up in the process, become frustrated and become miserable. So you need to keep the goal in mind and savor what it will be like while at the same time finding a way to find pleasure in your day to day activities.

Today is the main event. Are you enjoying it?

Your image of the future is what guides your current actions.

Having a positive image of the future will cause you to take positive actions.

Few things kill energy and ambition faster than having a negative view of the future. I mean what is the use if it is not going to make any difference? On the other hand if you think the future is going to be good you will fill with energy and ambition. So if you want to get ahead, it only makes sense to adopt a positive attitude.
