Five little things you can do right now to become a new you.

You have a better chance of becoming a new you if you take baby steps and start now.

Here are five quick and easy steps to start you on the way to becoming the person you want to be.

1. Take your top goal and find something you can do to help you attain it, then do it.

2. Do one thing to improve your health right now such as putting down that cookie and doing one sit up.

3. List seven things you are grateful for right now.

4. Ask someone for help on something that is holding you back.

5. Say no to someone that wants to waste your time.

Don’t worry about which is the best one to do first, just pick one and do it now!

Six ways to overcome resistance to getting something done.

Here is how to avoid getting stuck trying to get a goal accomplished.

1. Be aware you are resisting something. Acknowledge you have a problem.

2. Remove distractions. Quiet the phone, stop checking emails, and concentrate on the task at hand.

3. Schedule it. Put it on your calendar and make an “appointment” to do it.

4. Start even when you are not ready. Don’t wait for things to be perfect.

5. Don’t expect instant gratification. Things take time, accept it.

6. Get started and stay with it. You have to do the work.

Stop saying you just don’t have what it takes and start practicing.

Saying you just don’t have the right genes to do something may fool some people but you know the truth is that you are not putting in the effort.

Genetics play a part, but most of what holds us back is our lack of commitment to practicing until we gain mastery. Maybe you won’t be the best in your field, but I bet you can be a contender. Just committing to making more effort will improve your performance. And once you really put your heart into it, the results will amaze you.

Stop blaming your genes and give it a shot.

Most people overestimate how bad things will be and underestimate how good things will be.

When you think about things move your estimated outcome up a notch. Odds are you are being too pessimistic about outcomes. You miss opportunities because you do not pursue things that appear too hard. Or you don’t realize how good something can be. Either way your natural pessimism holds you back.

Some people find fault like there is a reward for it.

Some people will go to extraordinary means to find problems and involve you in them.

We just can’t avoid the fact that some people are just extreme pessimists. But we can avoid getting tangled up with them. Most of the time it is the same people in our lives that bring problems to us. They try to rope you into their mess and pull you down. Avoid these people at all costs, they can only hurt you. And when you sense a new contact is heading in this direction, start to distance yourself right away.

Hide, the pessimists are coming.

They don’t wallow in the past or worry about the future, they take life as it is and deal with it, good or bad.

Most people understand at some level that they are wasting big portions of their lives on things that are not really important. Here is the secret to changing that.
The secret is not simply a resolution to stop wasting time, however. It is to find a systematic way to raise the scarcity of time to our consciousness. You need to be evaluating your activities in terms of them falling in the last period of your life.

Being a failure at these things almost guarantees your success.

Here are five things to fail at:

1. Fail at achieving your original plan. You need to be flexible as things change.

2. Fail at feeling completely prepared and confident. You need to start before you are ready.

3. Fail at pleasing everyone, you can never make everyone happy, why try?

4. Fail at feeling OK all the time. You will have stress if you are putting yourself out there.

5. Fail at doing it all yourself. You can never do it all yourself.
