Busyness is NOT a badge of honor.

Busyness is just an illness that makes everything harder than it has to be.

We manufacture busyness to avoid just being exactly who we are, exactly where we are. In the process, we not only miss out on the serenity and beauty that exists within us, Let’s start keeping our lives ordered and our schedules under-booked. So we can pause to hear the music for a moment, and smile, when the opportunity arises.

It is time to pare down that to do list and live life.

How to be happy doing a job you hate.

Here is how to handle it when life throws you jobs you must do even though you hate them.

First get the biggest job you hate out of the way first, this is when you have the most inner fortitude and the rest of the tasks look easy after that. Next recognize it is a means to an end, know how the job fits in with your plans, even if it is not apparent at first. Lastly practice gratitude. Focus on the good things in your life and don’t dwell on the crap work.

Try this advice out on a job you have been putting off and see how it goes.

Give yourself some alone time.

Science suggests we overestimate how much we need people and under estimate how much we need alone time.

I am not suggesting you become a recluse, but I am suggesting you reduce the amount of texting, etc you do. Being alone has a number of benefits. It allows you to recharge your batteries. It also enhances your creativity and you get more done when you are alone. Just reduce the time you spend interacting with others a bit and see what happens.

Take some time to be by yourself right now.

The proven secret to happiness.

Spend 15 continuous minutes a day thinking happy thoughts.

A fascinating study was done using brain scans to determine what lead to happiness. The technique that held up over time was to build a base of meditation in which you focused on happy thoughts. Particularly those thoughts that had you helping others. Starting with what ever time you could set aside for it and gradually building on the time meditating on happy thoughts, happiness levels went up and lasted for longer and longer periods. 15 minutes seemed the optimum amount of time.

Have you got 15 minutes to improve your happiness?

Why is it that some people seem to be happy all the time?

They do this on a regular basis.

They smile. Smiling changes the way we react to the world and the way the world reacts to us, making our lives happier. They also nurture relationships. We really do need people and making relationships work pays back big time. And here is the biggie: they live in the moment. They don’t wallow in the past or worry about the future, they take life as it is and deal with it, good or bad.

Can you set yourself up to be happy right now?

Cut the amount of “noise” you take in by 5% and you will do better.

We are expose to “noise” all day long and it hurts our ability to think.

Just by cutting down the information flowing into us by 5%, we free up capacity in our brains to do more productive things than process it. “Noise from social media, music, news, gossip, etc. comes at us all day long. Our brain has to process it before it is discarded. This takes a toll. By cutting back on this type of thing by just 5%, you will see a difference. You can think!.

What can you tune out now?

You need to believe you can accomplish your goal if you want to accomplish your goal.

You can set anything you want for a goal, but if you don’t really believe in it, you will fail.

The R in SMART goals stands for realistic and this is key to actually achieving the goal. If you don’t really believe in your goal, at some level you will hold back and not accomplish it. Yes, you want to stretch you goals, but if you go too far out you will fail.

Do you believe in the goals you have set for yourself?

You can jump start your progress if you take things step by step.

If you take it step by step you can start things before you are ready.

Learn to start before you feel ready, and you will learn how to succeed, step by step, before you even realize that you’re good enough. You don’t have to be perfect but you do have to start. Sure you will make mistakes but if you learn from them you will be way ahead compared to where you would be by waiting.

Give something you have been waiting to start a shot today.

Sometimes there just isn’t any closure.

We all seek closure for unhappy events in our life, but life does not always give us closure.

I would like to tell you that all bad events in our life will end and that you will obtain closure and move on. But that is not the case. Life is unfair in that way. Some questions are never answered. Some wrongs are not righted. Some arguments are never settled. Accept it to the extent you can and move on as best you can.

What situations are you willing to acknowledge you are not going to get closure?
