Your image of the future is what guides your current actions.

Having a positive image of the future will cause you to take positive actions.

Few things kill energy and ambition faster than having a negative view of the future. I mean what is the use if it is not going to make any difference? On the other hand if you think the future is going to be good you will fill with energy and ambition. So if you want to get ahead, it only makes sense to adopt a positive attitude.

Comparison is the thief of joy!

Looking at where you are versus where you want to be can help you or hurt you.

It is quite easy to get carried away into the realm of “I can’t wait to be … in my life”, and neglect being fully present in your current moment. Deciding on what you want is one thing, dwelling on the fact you don’t have it is another. If it helps you goal setting, fine, but if it makes you crazy it is bad news.

Focus on where you are now with gratitude and look ahead with hope.

What have you done today that is a positive step towards your dreams?

What have you done today that is DIFFERENT than yesterday?

Chances are yesterday was not a great day in terms of moving towards your dreams. But today is a new day and you must do things differently if you are to attain your goals. You just can’t keep going along talking about your goals without taking any real action. Days slip into weeks and then years. At some point you look back and wonder where it all went. It is all here today. You still have a chance to do something. Anything. Just take a positive step towards your dream and you will be on your way.

Take that step now.

Stop pitying yourself.

Self pity only makes things worse for you.

If you spend time feeling sorry for yourself for any length of time, you are stopping your progress. Yes, setbacks hurt and yes you should acknowledge them. But don’t get stuck in self pity. Chances are, no one is coming to save you and it will be up to you to fix your problem. So Instead use the time to see what went wrong and what you can do to fix it. Then do what you can to fix it.

Wipe away the tears and see what you can do to improve things.

Associate with people more successful than you.

You will never improve yourself if you continue to associate with people that do not have the skills and motivation you also need to have in order to be successful.

At some level associating with people that are not at the level you want to be will pull you down. They may directly try to keep you down, you may not want to leave them and so on. But the bottom line is that you are going to be held down. It will probably hurt and it will probably be hard to find new people like you want to become but you can do it. In fact you must do it if you are sincere in your desire to improve.

Be OK with things not being OK all the time.

No matter how good we are, how hard we work, etc. things don’t go well. You have to learn to live with that.

You need a system that lets you live with setbacks. Some people build a “fudge factor” into their goals that allows for this, others just adopt an attitude that lets them roll with the punches. The point is that things are going to go South on occasion through no fault of your own or even because you made a mistake. You will just make yourself crazy and abandon your goals if you insist on perfection all the time.

Lighten up, things are going to go wrong, but you can still make it.

The one thing that will remove your feeling of worthlessness.

You change your life until you change your current beliefs and this includes removing your feeling of worthlessness.

We all have at least one area of our life in which we feel worthless. Chances are someone else gave you that feeling and you have run from anything in that area since then. You need to take back that area one step at a time. When you think about being worthless in some area ask yourself what baby step can you take to feel the fear and do it anyway. Then take that step. Give yourself credit for what you did and realize that you are taking your life back.

What baby step can you take right now?

You focus is like a search engine.

Your focus or search engine gives you results based on what you search for. This can be good or bad.

You get what you focus on. Just like a search engine, you get results based on what you put in it. If you focus on negative things, you will get negative results. And of course a positive focus gives you positive results. So the key is to keep searching for positive results. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.

Will you recognize happiness in you when you see it?

Happiness doesn’t just happen, you have to know what it is and look for it.

Many of us just roll through life picking up happiness where we find it. Yet, if we want to maximize happiness, we need to actively think through what makes us happy and then go out and look for it. It is goal setting but for happiness. Once you know what you want in terms of happiness it will start to pop up and you will live a fuller life.

Start to think about what makes you happy.

To be happy forget R & R, get active instead.

New research shows that activity is the key to happiness, not sitting around waiting for it.

Passive methods of seeking happiness just don’t cut it when put to the test. Actively doing things that move you into a happier place is the answer. Exercise is one of the top ways to improve your happiness. No need to kill yourself, just get moving. Same for group activities. Anything that gets you out interacting with other people takes the blues away.

Stop trying to think you way into happiness and get moving.
