How to stop wasting much of your life.

Odds are you are wasting at least 50% of your life.

All of us waste some time in the course of the day. No matter how much time you waste, here is a way to make yourself more productive. Start by noting how much time you are spending on social media. I bet you will be floored. And how about those endless texts that amount to nothing but time killers? Throw in some basic video and music searches and you have pretty much eaten up a big hunk of your day.

Look at what you are about to do and ask yourself if it moving you towards or away from your goals.

Use an “imaginary you” to make decisions.

Many times we don’t feel qualified to handle the decisions before us, so creating an “imaginary you” to make the decision will help.

If you are faced with a decision that seems to overwhelm you, think of who would have the qualifications, experience, etc to make it for you. Then imagine yourself having those exact qualifications and ask that “imaginary you” what to do. You will be astounded at the answer you get back. Somehow you are able to access those traits that are needed to make the decision through the “imaginary you”.

Who do you need to be today in order to make a decision?

Play offense, not defense.

Playing defense means playing not to lose, playing offense means playing to win.

You need to play to win if you are going to move your life ahead. This means putting yourself out there, making extra effort, taking chances, and knowing you are going to win. You are a winner playing to win, not a loser playing not to lose.

Game on!

Just because something happened doesn’t mean you have to keep thinking about it.

Sometimes an event occurs and for whatever reason, we keep it in our minds even though it really doesn’t matter to us.

We carry it around even though it is not something that will help move our life ahead or is important in any particular way. It helps to take an inventory every now and then of what we are thinking about. You will be surprised at what you find. And once you find “junk” thoughts and toss them, you will feel much better and be more focused.

What thoughts are you carrying around right now?

Want to increase your productivity? Do less of these things.

Here is a case of doing less to get more.

We tend to think doing more will increase productivity, but in some cases we should do less. Here are some things to do less of.

· Stop working so much. If you are putting in lots of extra hours, your productivity will drop and you will develop burn out.

· Stop being afraid to say no. You are over committing yourself and end up not doing anything well.

· Stop trying to do everything yourself. You can only do so much and only so much of that well. Time to farm out some tasks so you regain your mojo.

· Stop being a perfectionist. Most things just aren’t the extra
effort it takes to go from good enough to perfect.

So the key is to do less in order to make room for accomplishing more.

What are you going to stop doing right now?

You don’t enter a contest to learn.

Learning should be done in between contests, not during them.

Many people don’t pay attention to their business, game, etc. until they are in real test of their skills such as a contest or tournament. Prior to that, they just go through the motions. Then when the big day comes they discover they don’t have what it takes in some area. This discovery should have been made in practice and learning sessions. You need to get your skills up to par before they are needed. Game day is too late.

What skills do you need to improve now?

Ask yourself “Is this The Best I Can Do?”

Settle for nothing less than your best when it comes to your key goals.

You know I am not a big fan of absolutely killing yourself to get the very best effort on things. Most of the time that last little bit of results takes a disproportionate amount of effort to achieve. However when it comes to the goals that are going to make or break you, only your best will do. So ask yourself if a project merits you best and if so, if you are in fact giving it your best.

Is it time to give something your best effort?

Change want to have to if you want success.

There are tons of things you want, but only a limited number of things you have to. Guess which things get done.

Wanting to do something doesn’t carry the weight of having to do something. And it shows in the results you get. There are seven days in a week and someday is not one of them. Wanting puts things in the someday category and that is the kiss of death. If you want to accomplish a goal find a way to make it a must do and it will happen.

Is today a someday or a must day?

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice your gift.

Your success in any endeavor is forever linked directly to your heart, your will, and your steadfast commitment to goals.

You cannot ever let fatigue make you a coward, nor can you ever expect to win without struggling, without suffering, without sacrificing…as these are all essential elements of the DNA of winning. The relentless attitude is the winning attitude and the remarkable thing about life is that we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. You cannot change your past. You cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. You cannot change the inevitable. The only thing you can do is to play on the one string you have, and that is your attitude

So what is it: you can choose to be relentless, or you can choose to roll over and surrender to weakness.

Cheat on your goals.

When setting a goal, pick one that you have already made some progress on.

In order to help make a goal seem more achievable, start with a goal you have a head start on. Having some part of the goal already in the bank makes the whole process go faster. You do not throw up unknowns as obstacles and anticipate it being harder than it is due to your prior experience.

What goal can you “cheat’” on today?
