How to stop denying reality about something you don’t like.

Unpleasant realities can never be hidden, they just get you in different ways.

When we are in denial about something we don’t want to think about, we find that different forms of unpleasantness creep into our lives. We are just uncomfortable. Still we won’t let that negative reality in and the circle continues. The way to deal with this is to accept the unpleasant feelings you are getting and not try to push them away. Once you are OK, with say, being depressed at times, you will find that the underlying reason you are feeling depressed can be dealt with as you have already paid the price(depression) that you were trying to avoid.

Ready to let some negative emotions in?

Here is the main reason you are not succeeding.

Your self-image does not match who you want to become.

If your self-image does not match the person you want to become, no amount of goal setting will help you. Do some serious thinking about who you think you are. If you do not like yourself very much, you need to work on changing your self-image. Things like affirmations, positive self-talk, associating with positive people, etc. will all move your self-image up a notch.

It is time to acknowledge you are way better than you think you are.

Why playing the victim really holds you back.

We all have times when we are a legitimate victim, but there are times when we play the victim and this hurts our progress.

When we play the victim we avoid taking responsibility for something and it is only by taking responsibility that we can fix something. As a victim you don’t have control over something. Control is key to success though. As a victim you are waiting for someone else to save you. This may or may not happen and then you are stuck in a losing position.

What is the biggest thing you have been a victim of and how can you turn it around by taking control.

Don’t let anyone “fix” you.

The world is full of people that want you to change in some way. Run from them!

Everyone has a plan for you, just change this one little thing, and you will be perfect. Of course they don’t agree with each other, but they know what’s best for you. Well I am pretty sure you know what is best for you and even if you don’t, friends and family are the worst places to find out.
Mentors, therapists, subject matter experts, maybe, but leave the friends and family plan to the phone company.

You are fine, go out and act that way.

Six ways to be nicer to yourself today.

Stop taking the joy out of your life and start giving yourself some well deserved credit by using these techniques.

Take the spotlight off of the negative things in your life and do the things listed below then watch how life improves for you.

1. Start each day with some positive affirmations about yourself. Even if you don’t believe them at first, they will pull your opinion of yourself up.

2. Say “No” a lot. Stop being available to everybody for everything. Get your life back by gaining control of your schedule.

3. Meditate. A new calmness awaits you if you take a few minutes for this.

4. Exercise. It doesn’t have to be a major do, just start.

5. Talk to yourself like a friend. Stop beating yourself up all the time and be kind to yourself.

6. Write down your accomplishments at the end of the day. This gives you a positive feeling and helps you do more the next day.

So pick one of these things to do right now and start, I promise you will be happy with the outcome.

Ask yourself “Is this The Best I Can Do?”

Settle for nothing less than your best when it comes to your key goals.

You know I am not a big fan of absolutely killing yourself to get the very best effort on things. Most of the time that last little bit of results takes a disproportionate amount of effort to achieve. However when it comes to the goals that are going to make or break you, only your best will do. So ask yourself if a project merits you best and if so, if you are in fact giving it your best.

Is it time to give something your best effort?

Stop saying you just don’t have what it takes and start practicing.

Saying you just don’t have the right genes to do something may fool some people but you know the truth is that you are not putting in the effort.

Genetics play a part, but most of what holds us back is our lack of commitment to practicing until we gain mastery. Maybe you won’t be the best in your field, but I bet you can be a contender. Just committing to making more effort will improve your performance. And once you really put your heart into it, the results will amaze you.

Stop blaming your genes and give it a shot.

Why is it that some people seem to be happy all the time?

They do this on a regular basis.

They smile. Smiling changes the way we react to the world and the way the world reacts to us, making our lives happier. They also nurture relationships. We really do need people and making relationships work pays back big time. And here is the biggie: they live in the moment. They don’t wallow in the past or worry about the future, they take life as it is and deal with it, good or bad.

Can you set yourself up to be happy right now?

Use the money you spend on lottery tickets to build your own education fund.

If you are buying lottery tickets, you are donating to your state’s education fund. Why not use that money to buy book and start your own education fund?

Educating yourself is the best investment you could ever make. The payback will come for the rest of your life. Not so with lottery tickets even if you win. Hold off on buying those lottery tickets and save enough to buy a book, CD or DVD that will move you ahead. It can be in your work area or your personal life. They all will deliver way more and are almost a sure thing.

Buy a book and hit the jackpot for yourself.

Poor me and “Pour Me Another” are connected.

Self-pity has its place, but it can be self-destructive.

We all have bad days and have plenty of reasons to say “poor me”. But saying “pour me another” is probably not the answer. You will end up feeling better if you identify what went wrong, come up with a fix and at least make some attempt at getting back on track. You will have your sense of self-control back.

Next time you say “Pour me another”, make sure it is a celebration.
