One Minute Motivator # 303

If you have more than three projects on your goals list, you don’t have any.

You need to limit your goals list to three items or you won’t accomplish any of them.

Having more than three projects drains your resources beyond the point of a useful return. You have to admit you only have a limited amount of energy and time in the day to accomplish things and the more you spread yourself thin, the lower the chances of success for any of them.

Pick three key goals and toss the others for now.

How to say ‘no’ to others to say ‘yes’ to your goals

If you are going to accomplish your goals, tough decisions have to be made.

People and things will constantly be popping up around you to demand your time. Since your time is finite, you have to ration it out on the highest payback options. It is OK to be selfish, this is how the world moves ahead. Everyone has to do what he or she does best. Practice saying no and you will be surprised how easy it becomes, the world does not come down on you. And you get things done while being happier.

What goal can you say, “yes” to right now?

Cut the amount of “noise” you take in by 5% and you will do better.

We are expose to “noise” all day long and it hurts our ability to think.

Just by cutting down the information flowing into us by 5%, we free up capacity in our brains to do more productive things than process it. “Noise from social media, music, news, gossip, etc. comes at us all day long. Our brain has to process it before it is discarded. This takes a toll. By cutting back on this type of thing by just 5%, you will see a difference. You can think!.

What can you tune out now?

Stop checking your email so often.

Instead of helping your work, checking your email tends to decrease your productivity.

Sure you need to stay up to speed, but almost everyone way overdoes it. If there is an emergency you will surly here about it. Your boss will call or even come over to see you about something urgent. What is in your inbox can wait. When you open the inbox you are inviting distraction and a loss of productivity. Limit your email checking to once in the morning and once in the afternoon and see what you missed. Chances are not much.

Whatever you do, do not leave this site and check your email.

Four things to give up today.

Stop doing these things today and you will have a perfect life.

1. Doubting yourself. There are plenty of people to do that for you.

2. Procrastination. Once you start you will wonder why you ever hesitated.

3. Fear of success. This is hard to spot, but man is it powerful.

4. Perfectionism. Getting to perfect is just never worth it.

OK, which one are you giving up first?

Finish it or it will drag you down.

Jumping back and forth to various projects because you find them unpleasant really kills your productivity.

No matter how much you dislike a task, stay with it as long as you can. If you have to keep going back to it, your productivity takes a nosedive. Having to restart lost momentum is a feat in itself. It pulls every project you put off finishing down with it.

Go finish something.

It is just not worth trying to please everybody.

Trying to make 100% of your friends, customers, relatives, etc happy is just not an efficient use of your time or money. You have to let some of them go.

Once you get past a certain point, it stops being feasible to make the remaining segment happy. That last segment takes way, way more time, effort and probably money to satisfy. Accept that you can’t please them all and be happy you have saved yourself endless grief.

Who can you let go of today?

Be even more careful about lending your time than even your money.

Money can be made up, time can never be recovered.

Most people watching their pennies pretty closely. They are very, very careful about lending money to others. But when it comes to time, they give it away freely. They don’t value their time. But time is limited, you only have so much of it to use. If you give it away, it is not available for you to use in working towards your goals.

Think twice before lending your time, once it is gone, it is gone.

Prepare a To-Do List the Night Before.

Spending a few minutes preparing a To-Do list for the next day before you wrap things up for the night will results in a huge gain in your productivity.

Spend a few minutes before bed preparing a list of activities you need to complete the next day. Waking up with a plan of action will immediately increase your productivity.

The time spent trying to figure out what you should do next will be replaced with moving quickly to your next priority. Moving quickly from one task to the next will save time, effort, and keep you focused on the priorities for the day.

Make a list tonight and watch how it increases your productivity.

Your life is right now, right here!

Life is not what happened before, that’s history. Life’s not later, that’s the future.

Many of us spend out life waiting for our life to begin. We have all these great plans for what needs to happen before life begins. Things will be great once so and so happens. . Your life is right now. It will always be right now. You might as well decide to start enjoying your life right now, because it’s not ever going to get better than right now—until it gets better right now!

This is your life, go for it!
