Try setting a really tight deadline in order to have a breakthrough.

You force yourself to tap into sources you don’t normally use.

Next time you start a project, set a really tight deadline for it and see what happens. You may find you did not to have all the elements of the job you planned for, you may think of shortcuts you didn’t think of before, you may take calculated risks that you wouldn’t have before and so on. Whatever happens will happen sooner than it would have otherwise and this gives you time to fix things that went wrong or savor the speed in which you got the job done.

Ready to try a tight deadline?

You can’t get more without giving up something else.

You cannot “have it all”.

It comes down to priorities, choices, hard decisions. You only have so many hours in the day, only so much energy, only so much knowledge or skill and so on. Here is where knowing your goals and priorities comes in. You need to step back and look at where you are investing your time versus wasting your time in terms of what you really want.

What do you want now and what are you willing to give up to get it?

Odds are you are wasting at least 50% of your life.

All of us waste some time in the course of the day. No matter how much time you waste, here is a way to make yourself more productive. Start by noting how much time you are spending on social media. I bet you will be floored. And how about those endless texts that amount to nothing but time killers? Use an “imaginary you” to make decisions.

Many times we don’t feel qualified to handle the decisions before us, so creating an “imaginary you” to make the decision will help.

If you are faced with a decision that seems to overwhelm you, think of who would have the qualifications, experience, etc to make it for you. Then imagine yourself having those exact qualifications and ask that “imaginary you” what to do. You will be astounded at the answer you get back. Somehow you are able to access those traits that are needed to make the decision through the “imaginary you”.

Who do you need to be today in order to make a decision?

If you don’t do it now, you never will.

Every second you wait to do something increases the chances that you will never do it.

Having an idea and then not taking immediate action on it is the kiss of death for the idea. Develop the habit of getting to work on something the minute you think of it. Once an idea is not acted upon, it gets filed in with the thousands of other ideas you had, never to be seen again.

What is one step you can take right now to make an idea happen?

Want to increase your productivity? Do less of these things.

Here is a case of doing less to get more.

We tend to think doing more will increase productivity, but in some cases we should do less. Here are some things to do less of.

· Stop working so much. If you are putting in lots of extra hours, your productivity will drop and you will develop burn out.

· Stop being afraid to say no. You are over committing yourself and end up not doing anything well.

· Stop trying to do everything yourself. You can only do so much and only so much of that well. Time to farm out some tasks so you regain your mojo.

· Stop being a perfectionist. Most things just aren’t the extra
effort it takes to go from good enough to perfect.

So the key is to do less in order to make room for accomplishing more.

What are you going to stop doing right now?
