Practicing gratitude.

The more you practice gratitude, the more you see how much there is to be grateful for, and your life becomes an ongoing celebration of joy and happiness. If this is new to you, begin by listing seven things you are grateful for. Don’t insist they be big things, small things work just as well. Do this every day and watch how you feel after you do your list. Honestly the payoff is huge.

Having a positive image of the future will cause you to take positive actions.

Few things kill energy and ambition faster than having a negative view of the future. I mean what is the use if it is not going to make any difference? On the other hand if you think the future is going to be good you will fill with energy and ambition. So if you want to get ahead, it only makes sense to adopt a positive attitude.

Find a way to turn a bad experience into a positive one.

Choosing what attitude to have can go a long way towards turning a bad situation around.

As hard as it is to accept sometimes, you always have options as to how you will feel about something. When something bad happens, sure you hate it, but can you focus on learning what went wrong and how to prevent it in the future for instance. If you make it a habit of this type of thinking, over time you will find you are able to turn many situations around as far as your thinking goes.

You have to say that to people that are filling you with doubts, trivia, and bad information.

Most people want to fill your mind with their nastiness, pettiness, and useless information. You have to stop that kind of stuff from coming in and replace it with positive information and information that will move you towards your goals. This takes real work. You have to constantly monitor the information that is coming to you from the media, your associates, even your family. What happens outside of you starts inside of you.

It is always sunny above the clouds.

If you look above the day to day irritations and setbacks, you will see the sun or possibilities for you.

All that day to day stuff keeps pulling our focus down. We lose sight of our goals. As hard as it is to do, if you step back and remember why we are involved in this stuff and where it is supposed to lead, your focus will change. Things fall into perspective and our energy and morale improves. Life is fun again.

One Sentence that will cure your sense of helplessness.

Helplessness stops your progress cold, here is how to put yourself on the right track.

To move out of feeling helpless, first acknowledge that you feel helpless in an area. Then take one baby step in that area that shows you can make progress in that area, no matter how small. The use this sentence template, fill in the blanks and say it to yourself. ” I used to believe that I was helpless at _________, but now I am getting better at ________ every day.” The key you have to actually take some small action every day. If you do this, you are on your way.

The one thing that will remove your feeling of worthlessness.

You change your life until you change your current beliefs and this includes removing your feeling of worthlessness.

We all have at least one area of our life in which we feel worthless. Chances are someone else gave you that feeling and you have run from anything in that area since then. You need to take back that area one step at a time. When you think about being worthless in some area ask yourself what baby step can you take to feel the fear and do it anyway. Then take that step. Give yourself credit for what you did and realize that you are taking your life back.

What baby step can you take right now?

How setting goals can hurt you.

If you set goals built around avoiding something you will focus on what you don’t want instead of what you do want.

Typically we set goals to change something bad that happened to us and this does not let us focus on the big things we really want in life. We focus on getting some irritation or disappointment out of our life. This causes us to miss the big picture and go on with an unfulfilled life.

Step back from your disappointments and focus on what really matters to you when setting goals.

You focus is like a search engine.

Your focus or search engine gives you results based on what you search for. This can be good or bad.

You get what you focus on. Just like a search engine, you get results based on what you put in it. If you focus on negative things, you will get negative results. And of course a positive focus gives you positive results. So the key is to keep searching for positive results. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.
