Don’t be a hypocrite about failure.

Many of us say we embrace failure to learn from it, but run from our own failures.

By avoiding accepting failure and pushing our failures under the rug we hurt ourselves. First off, we truly do have the chance to learn what went wrong and avoid repeating the same mistakes. Secondly depending on how we avoid facing failure, we can look foolish to others. This will hurt your progress in other ways if people see you in that light. And it hurts your future. If you can’t deal with failure now, you won’t in the future and may make you more afraid to take chances that are needed to reach your goals.

If you failed, you already paid the price, why not collect your prize of progress next time around.

Odds are this is what is holding you back.

Fear of failure.

Almost everyone is afraid of failure. Except successful people. That is why there are so few successful people. There are very few sure things in this world, so almost everything you do requires some degree of risk. Where we fall down is the areas we attach importance to. Then we freeze and nothing happens. And we can’t get what we want if nothing happens. Find a way to take steps even if we are afraid. Break what you are afraid of into tiny pieces and take it a piece at a time. Whatever you do, you must do something or you will never make progress.

Success is waiting just beyond you fear of failure.

Four good things about failure.

Sure failure hurts but here are four reasons it could be your friend.

Failure almost always teaches you something. You paid the price so why not learn from it.

You generally have to go through failure to get to success. With a failure you are one step closer to success.

Dealing with failure gives you something to be genuinely proud of. Not everyone can do it, but you can.

Think of a recent failure and see how these principles apply.

Are you a failure?

It depends on how you look at it.

Trying to determine if we are a success or a failure haunts us most of the time. And yet the answer is that in most cases it depends on very arbitrary measurements and comes down to us deciding which way we want to judge it. You can spend your life analyzing a situation and trying to put a label on it. Or you save yourself a lot of grief and say what you learned and move on to another project. From a productivity standpoint, moving on is the way to go. More importantly, from a self esteem perspective, the best approach is to give yourself the benefit of the doubt and move on as well.

I declare you the winner, and it is time to move on.

Why you are miserable even if you achieved 98% of your goal.

The answer is that you are a perfectionist and you set yourself up for failure.

I am all for total success, but most of the time it is just not worth it, that extra few points exacts a terrible cost. And by focusing on only total success you miss the benefits of a bit of failure. You don’t take the opportunity to learn and grow from failure and mistakes; you just dwell on your perceived failure.

Lower your sights just a bit and see what you learn.

Five things you must fail at in order to be successful.

Being a failure at these things almost guarantees your success.

Here are five things to fail at:

1. Fail at achieving your original plan. You need to be flexible as things change.

2. Fail at feeling completely prepared and confident. You need to start before you are ready.

3. Fail at pleasing everyone, you can never make everyone happy, why try?

4. Fail at feeling OK all the time. You will have stress if you are putting yourself out there.

5. Fail at doing it all yourself. You can never do it all yourself.

OK are you ready to fail in order to make it big?
