Practicing gratitude.

The more you practice gratitude, the more you see how much there is to be grateful for, and your life becomes an ongoing celebration of joy and happiness. If this is new to you, begin by listing seven things you are grateful for. Don’t insist they be big things, small things work just as well. Do this every day and watch how you feel after you do your list. Honestly the payoff is huge.

Comparison is the thief of joy!

Looking at where you are versus where you want to be can help you or hurt you.

It is quite easy to get carried away into the realm of “I can’t wait to be … in my life”, and neglect being fully present in your current moment. Deciding on what you want is one thing, dwelling on the fact you don’t have it is another. If it helps you goal setting, fine, but if it makes you crazy it is bad news.

Focus on where you are now with gratitude and look ahead with hope.

How to have a good day.

It starts by knowing what you want and ends by taking action towards it.

You have to know a good day when you see one. Do you know what makes a good day? What are your goals for the day? Then you move into making it happen. Here you need to be single minded. No multitasking allowed. Focus on your top priority actions first. As you go through the day constantly ask yourself if what you are doing is moving you towards or away from you goals. Then leave some time at the end of the day to give yourself credit for what you did. That is what makes it a good day.

Success is progress, not perfection.

Getting there is great, but it only happens once and not too often at that. Progress on the other hand can be there almost every minute.

And looked at properly it can be immensely satisfying. You have your goals and are working them daily. When you see those actions begin to come back to you in the form of progress it brings on one of the biggest highs you can get. And progress can keep coming back and back. You keep working and it will be there for you.

Take a step towards one of your goals right now to get some progress going.

You don’t have to wait until things are perfect to be happy.

You can find a way to be happy while working on your issues.

Many people shut themselves out from happiness by telling themselves that things have to be perfect before they are entitled to be happy. It is a matter of focus. If you focus on what is wrong, happiness can’t break through. On the other hand if you focus on what you are doing to work though your issues, happiness can occur.

Here is the first step towards being happy.

Learn what makes you happy. Sounds simple doesn’t it, but you would be surprised.

Many people really don’t have a firm understanding of what really makes them happy. They are so busy with their lives, they have not sorted out their feelings and they have changed over time. They know what they don’t like and what they kind of like but that is pretty much it. So you have to begin to take an inventory of what experiences make you happy.

Begin to sort out your feelings of happiness so you can bring more of them into your life.

Volunteer your way to success.

Sharing your talents doesn’t diminish them; it often enhances them.

People who do volunteer work and help others on a regular basis have a healthier outlook on life. They are inclined to be go-getters, and consistently report being happier and more contented. There are countless examples of people that did volunteer work had it turn into incredible opportunities they never would have found in any other way. Experiment with some charity work on a low key basis and see how it works. Chances are you will be going back for more.

Avoid the single biggest regret people have.

And that is not following through on what they are passionate about.

It is so easy to get stuck in life. we get comfortable and we don’t want to risk losing that. Time passes and there we are at the end of our lives wondering why it turned out to be so dull. There is no question that pursuing what you love is a risk. You might not be as well off or you might find out you didn’t love what you thought you did. What is for sure is that if you don’t pursue what you love, you will get to the end of your life and feel a sense of disappointment that you didn’t do it.

Take a baby step towards doing what you love today.

If you look above the day to day irritations and setbacks, you will see the sun or possibilities for you.

All that day to day stuff keeps pulling our focus down. We lose sight of our goals. As hard as it is to do, if you step back and remember why we are involved in this stuff and where it is supposed to lead, your focus will change. Things fall into perspective and our energy and morale improves. Life is fun again.

Three proven ways to be happier.

The following techniques are guaranteed to make you happier.

Spend more time with friends and family. This means face to face time, not texting, etc. This social network is extremely powerful in creating a feeling of well being.

Be grateful for what you have. The more you remind yourself of the good things in your life the happier you will be. Even if it does not seem like much, find positive things in your life and focus on them.

Act like you are happy even if are not. Your body will fool your mind into actually being happy. It sounds weird but it really works.

These techniques are free and don’t take a lot of time. And you will begin to see results right away.
