One Minute Motivator # 228

Don’t let anyone rob you of your “Me” time.

You need “Me” time, no matter how busy or important you are. Take it!

Taking a break for some “Me” time usually invokes a big hunk of guilt. From other people but many times even from yourself. You are not a machine, you need a break. You break down without a break. Sure you are important, but honestly you are not that important that you must ruin your physical and/or mental health.

Cut out some “Me” time today and don’t feel guilty about it.

It is just not worth trying to please everybody.

Trying to make 100% of your friends, customers, relatives, etc happy is just not an efficient use of your time or money. You have to let some of them go.

Once you get past a certain point, it stops being feasible to make the remaining segment happy. That last segment takes way, way more time, effort and probably money to satisfy. Accept that you can’t please them all and be happy you have saved yourself endless grief.

Who can you let go of today?

Many people want to make you their pawn. Don’t let them.

So many people need you to behave in a certain way for them to feel good. They condemn you for your selfishness.

As you go through life you will be pulled in many different ways by people that want to use you for their own ends. Guilt, blame, threats and so on are heaped on you. I won’t tell you that you can avoid all of it. You probably can’t. But at least make yourself aware of the level of this kind of stuff that is aimed at you. Start chipping away at the things you don’t truly want to do and you will feel your life starting to get better.

What steps can you take to lessen being “used” today?

It is OK to like different things than other people.

Not liking what other people like is fine for you, just as it is fine for others not to like what you do.

Many of us try to “fit in” with what other people like. And we are miserable plus we feel like we are “odd” or a failure in some way. You are fine just the way you are. Just as you have different skills and abilities, you have different tastes in things like what to do with your spare time. Maybe the only thing you have to change is who you associate with if your ‘friends” are putting you down.

Go have some fun with what you really want to do.
