Here is where practice truly makes perfect.

Practicing gratitude.

The more you practice gratitude, the more you see how much there is to be grateful for, and your life becomes an ongoing celebration of joy and happiness. If this is new to you, begin by listing seven things you are grateful for. Don’t insist they be big things, small things work just as well. Do this every day and watch how you feel after you do your list. Honestly the payoff is huge.

Ready to do you list and start truly enjoying your life?

What are your conversations about?

If you are talking about your aspirations you are good. If you are talking about your envy, anger or gossiping you are in trouble.

Winners talk about what they want and what they are doing to get it. Losers talk about what they don’t have and all the negative feelings around them. Listen to yourself when you have conversations. What is your focus. Is it things that will move you ahead. If it is not, you are not only wasting your time, you are pulling yourself down.

Talk to me about what you want.

Stop requiring the world to be the way you want it.

If you use the way the world is as your measuring stick you are sure to be miserable.

When we use the world as our frame of reference we are setting ourselves up for failure. This is because we can’t control the world or very much around us. You will be much happier if you set up measurements around things you can control such as yourself.

How do you really measure up?

Here is the main reason you are not succeeding.

Your self-image does not match who you want to become.

If your self-image does not match the person you want to become, no amount of goal setting will help you. Do some serious thinking about who you think you are. If you do not like yourself very much, you need to work on changing your self-image. Things like affirmations, positive self-talk, associating with positive people, etc. will all move your self-image up a notch.

It is time to acknowledge you are way better than you think you are.

Don’t let anyone “fix” you.

The world is full of people that want you to change in some way. Run from them!

Everyone has a plan for you, just change this one little thing, and you will be perfect. Of course they don’t agree with each other, but they know what’s best for you. Well I am pretty sure you know what is best for you and even if you don’t, friends and family are the worst places to find out.
Mentors, therapists, subject matter experts, maybe, but leave the friends and family plan to the phone company.

You are fine, go out and act that way.

The proven secret to happiness.

Spend 15 continuous minutes a day thinking happy thoughts.

A fascinating study was done using brain scans to determine what lead to happiness. The technique that held up over time was to build a base of meditation in which you focused on happy thoughts. Particularly those thoughts that had you helping others. Starting with what ever time you could set aside for it and gradually building on the time meditating on happy thoughts, happiness levels went up and lasted for longer and longer periods. 15 minutes seemed the optimum amount of time.

Have you got 15 minutes to improve your happiness?

Why you are miserable even if you achieved 98% of your goal.

The answer is that you are a perfectionist and you set yourself up for failure.

I am all for total success, but most of the time it is just not worth it, that extra few points exacts a terrible cost. And by focusing on only total success you miss the benefits of a bit of failure. You don’t take the opportunity to learn and grow from failure and mistakes; you just dwell on your perceived failure.

Lower your sights just a bit and see what you learn.

Stop saying you just don’t have what it takes and start practicing.

Saying you just don’t have the right genes to do something may fool some people but you know the truth is that you are not putting in the effort.

Genetics play a part, but most of what holds us back is our lack of commitment to practicing until we gain mastery. Maybe you won’t be the best in your field, but I bet you can be a contender. Just committing to making more effort will improve your performance. And once you really put your heart into it, the results will amaze you.

Stop blaming your genes and give it a shot.

You need to believe you can accomplish your goal if you want to accomplish your goal.

You can set anything you want for a goal, but if you don’t really believe in it, you will fail.

The R in SMART goals stands for realistic and this is key to actually achieving the goal. If you don’t really believe in your goal, at some level you will hold back and not accomplish it. Yes, you want to stretch you goals, but if you go too far out you will fail.

Do you believe in the goals you have set for yourself?

Pay attention to your thoughts.

By paying attention, you can catch negative or self-destructive thoughts before they take root.

Negative thoughts have a way of sneaking into our mind and can undercut you self-esteem. If you actually listen to your thoughts you can catch these ideas and stop your mind from accepting them. Once you catch a negative thought, make an effort to replace it with a positive thought aimed at improving your self-esteem.

Pay attention to the next thought you have.
